Schwinn Upright Exercise Bike, Which Models Are The Right One For You?

You might have made a decision that you want an upright exercise bike and a Schwinn ones. But which model and is Schwinn any good? Buying an exercise bike is not as hard and confusing as many people would think, as a general rule the more expensive the bike the better it is because in the exercise bike world you get what you pay for. In this article we will talk about the latest Schwinn upright exercise bike model and the pros and cons of each model in detail.

With Schwinn I wouldn’t recommend you buy anything below $400 for its upright bike. Anything below $400 is often laden with a lot of problem like the E – 2 screen error problems, the bike making lots of noise it shouldn’t make and the feedback mechanism is inaccurate.

Schwinn 113 Upright

The first bike that I would recommend people to buy is the Schwinn 113 Upright exercise bike that costs an estimated of $399. At $399 the 113 upright has a lot of bells and whistles that most more expensive brands have, for example the 113 has the calorie goal countdown, 16 level of resistance, (to give you something to compare, a normal upright bike only has about 8 to 10 resistance level) 10 workout programs, a magnetic resistance and a Bio Fit pedal. (a comfortable and nice fitting pedal which most upright bike lacks)

The 113 has a lot more features that I won’t state here because its all basic features that an upright bike must have like the heart rate monitor, speed statistics, fan and etc. If you weight 300 pounds or less I would highly recommend this bike.

Airdyne Schwinn

The second bike that I would like to recommend is the Schwinn Airdyne Upright Exercise bike which costs $549. This bike is a lot more expensive but it’s worth it if you have enough budgets for reasons which I will show you now.

A Total Body Workout

The Airdyne is built for people who want a total body workout; it has a handlebar which you can move to exercise for chest, arm and back muscle. As such the Airdyne is not exactly an upright exercise bike but a dual action exercise bike. (a variation of the upright bike) Airdyne also does not operates on magnetic resistance like most modern upright bike does but instead operates on a fan wheel which uses air as a resistance, as a result the Airdyne has a huge front wheel and are heavy and big in size. (which fortunately translates into better stability so the bike doesn’t shake even at high speed pedaling)

Another positive thing about the air resistance wheel is that the faster you pedal the higher the resistance so you’re going at your own pace without straining yourself. Your muscle and cardiovascular capacity will grow organically compared to setting the resistance manually. But the bad thing about that is that the Airdyne can get pretty noisy at high speed and if you have some documents lying around it might fly all around the room.

The conclusion

The conclusion is the Schwinn Airdyne is a classic upright or dual action exercise bike that design has remained unchanged since the 80s, (This tells you how good the design actually is) and if you don’t mind the noise then this is the upright bike you should get. (Did I mention their seats has extra padding so its comfortable too? )
